Coming “promptly.” Blizzards hates to be premature.
Like so many of you out there, I’m currently going through the whole Immortal process. It’s ridiculous. If I had a dollar for every time I’ve made it through the entirety of a 25-man Naxxramas run without dying, I’d have…well, enough to go out for dinner and drinks. The point I’m trying to make is that you have to rely not only on yourself and your machine, but everyone else’s ADD, shit-ass computer, family situation, and play style. Last week, we had a tragic mana-bomb incident during the last 35% or so of the Kel’thuzad encounter. It’s frustrating enough when it’s one of our own careless mistakes, but last week when we tried again, we only made it as far as Gothik when an instance glitch stomped our hopes and dreams. Have any of you ever experienced Gothik’s adds moving through the walls to go from Live to Dead side (and vice versa)? Yeah, neither had we. Before we had time to say “What the FUCK?” a group of spectral dudes sashayed from our side to Live and annihilated a Mage and a Boomkin.Â
Now, according to a GM, we have approximately 1-2 more weeks to complete this achievement.

I was personally excited to share the news that we essentially already knew: we’d be getting the patch at the end of April. In a recently published Blue post, however, Wryxian alludes to the fact that they’re “basically on the verge of releasing” the patch, and that it is coming “promptly.” I’m curious if this means we’ll see Ulduar and all the accompanying goodies tomorrow. Naturally, I also thought I had at least one more week to get my shit together:
- Make all my flasks before the materials change and stock up on Elixirs of Major Agility and Armor Piercing (at least I have the mats for this, m i rite?)
- Load up on 10 Fractured Scarlet Rubies (the recipe for which Mortality farmed last night) and 10 Delicate Scarlet Rubies for resocketing purposes
- Cement my temporary Bear set for dual-specs (you know, like, turn in those tokens sitting in the bank)
- Farm even MOAR foods
- Prepare for ultimate pet obtainment.Â
Just how in-the-know are GMs anyway? What do YOU still need to do before 3.1 hits?Â

Smirkfang

I’ve experienced a similar bug with Gothik where the pats in the room adjacent to dead side come through the wall. We also wiped to Gothik last week during our Immortal attempt. It was the last wing for us. But that was just because of an overzealous warlock.
I know folks in my guild want their protodrakes, and I’d love to have the Immortal achievement. But good grief, it’s making a zone I’m already sick of even more painful to raid.
I’ve heard of that particular bug, actually, but we literally had Live and Dead adds just flying through the walls to the opposite sides. We generally start with the Military Wing, so for us, it was our second boss in. I think perhaps the point I was trying to make was that it’s enough that this achievement proves beyond-annoying when you’re relying on 25 other people, but how realistic is it to achieve when the instance itself bugs out on you?
For most of the guild, earning Immortal would give everyone their protodrakes. Because I took a break for awhile, I’m still a few achievements off and there’s little-to-no-point in worrying about that. But I’d definitely like to waltz through there and stomp the instance at this point. Personal Immortal titles would be great, IMO.
P.S. We have also had that bug with Gothik, we just move to the gate when that happens and grab the adds there. Usually it is just dead going to live side for us.
I did a little editing so I wouldn’t need to delete everything entirely. At any rate, the bug was something pretty unexpected, which was why people died. We’re not quite sure which adds went where first (seems to be Dead to Live), except that we eventually saw Live adds on Dead Side as well (as I ended up being a recipient of said aggro). It’s an easy enough fix for the future, but definitely annoying.
The biggest thing I have had to do before 3.1 hits is suck up to the wife letting her know ahead of time that I most likely will be going back to 3 nights of raiding… doh.
It’s been pretty nice clearing all content in two, leisurely days. Fortunately for me, Lycentia (or rather, Mortality now) and I raid together. Good luck fitting everything into an expanded schedule and making good with your wife.
I’ve had the adds come across from dead to live before, which was highly awesome. We had enough come through that it wiped live side, and thus the raid. What was even more awesome was the attempt after we rezzed / rebuffed and tried again, when the patrolling Shade that is between Gothik and Horsemen aggroed through the door and came in to nuke dead side about 2/3 of the way through the add event portion.
Yeah, it sounds like a lot of people have had issues with that guy and I’m honestly surprised that I hadn’t run into anything like that before.
A funky method we’ve been using for a few weeks was have the entire raid stack on live side (zero guys on dead side). Around wave 13, the central gates open up for some unknown reason, and we AoE 12 waves of dead mobs while dealing with the last few waves of mobs on both sides.
Side benefit of being able to DPS Gothik before the gates ‘officially’ open up by the whole raid
