Assume the position! Ferals look forward to more “changes.” You know what I mean.

Apparently, Protector of the Pack, coupled with our normally reasonable mitigation, has absolutely blown the developers’ minds.

However, we are probably going to have to nerf bears. If we don’t, they will be the only MT choice for serious guilds. At the moment, bears in decent gear take less damage, have more health and generate more threat than the other 3 classes by a wide enough margin that we think it’s a problem. This is even true on bosses that do a lot of magic damage (like Malygos).

I use the word “nerf” because players use it, and I don’t want to hind behind euphamisms. But changing the numbers doesn’t have to mean nerfing you into the ground. We just don’t want you to dominate. I’m sure you’d feel the same way if Protection paladins were just head and shoulders above the other tanks.

We understand that some Ferals felt they were nerfed in BC either prematurely or in such a way that kept them steadily behind other tanks. (Though Sunwell Radiance was largely for bears.) We will try to make intelligent changes so that you’re still out there tanking the Lich King himself. We want you to be about as good as warriors, paladins and death knights, not way above or below them.

Did they really anticipate that we wouldn’t generate an insane amount of threat after steadily continuing to buff our damage? After level 80 armor items received a little more love in the AC department, our physical and magical damage mitigation became totally awesome a little ridiculous. Clearly, I’m interested in seeing where this goes, but I’m not surprised.

I’m just hoping this isn’t another rehash of what happened at the start of TBC – feral druids get buffed to hell, do too well, are nerfed and then scale horribly thereafter…

    Time will tell, I guess.

I have a feeling there will be a lot of flip-flop in the months to come, but as Blizzard seems fairly hell-bent on homogenizing the tanking corps, I imagine we’ll find some happy medium.

      Maybe.

Well, Hopefully Blizzard learned from TBC. But I’m still sad that I won’t be able to show those silly warriors up. I’m so tired of being told I’m not as good at getting my face smashed in because its covered by fur and not a plate helm. Anyways, I really hope blizzard will level the playing field (without completely “Homogenizing the tanking crops”) and make tanking about the player behind the screen and not the class.
