Impersonator

Posted in Rant on Apr 01, 2008

It’s recently come to my attention that someone was trying to claim my druid as their own—and in a piss-poorly written application post, no less.

Thus, if you ever see or hear of anyone using “Runyarusco” as a reference or claimed as an “alt”, they’re totally full of shit. Why? Because I’m the only Runyarusco in the Armory. I’m also the only “70 resto name Runyarusco in the guild <Singularity>”.

Link to the Application Itself.

Please let me know if you hear of anything else like this. Thanks!

    I followed the link, thinking “Oh, hey. Some sort of fake guild app from an ‘impersonator’ will be really amusing.” … and then I realized it wasn’t a joke. Sucks. I say kick that person in the teeth and write an amusing April Fools app as he should have done to properly impersonate the HoT. ;)

    Happy day,

      I hadn’t noticed your druid’s name before, since I’m new to this blogging world, and for a moment I thought it had to do with me. >.>

      Since I’ve never come across anyone that shared my name (in the least) might I ask you where you got it from? Coincidentally, I’m also a druid which makes it all the more interesting.

      Back to your post. That’s pretty poor of that person to think they need to pretend to be someone else in order to get into a guild. I hope it was a one time prank rather than someone legitimately trying to impersonate you. Hope that’s the last of him trying to pull that kind of crap.

        I wish it were some sort of April Fool’s Joke. Unfortunately, after I happened across that, all the funny sort of ran out of me. The thread is about two months old, but that still doesn’t explain why someone would have picked my druid, specifically mentioned all my “credentials” and then…yeah, proceeded to be a shitty app anyway. Very strange, and I can’t help wondering if it was someone I’d pissed off at one time or another.

        @Rusco
        If it was some kind of prank, it’s a little weird that I didn’t find out about it until…now. Regardless, back when I created this toon, I didn’t have any MMO experience and spent many countless hours agonizing over a name that was likely going to stick with me for…years. Rùnyarusco is a derivative of two Sindarin words (lololol Tolkien nerdosity): rùnya and rusco. Loosely translated, that’d be “Red Fox”. Clearly it has nothing to do with my character, but that has some backstory as well, and if nothing else, it sounds catchy.

          At least it’s pretty old and not something this person has been keeping up.

          I had thought it was Sindarin. I’m no Tolkien geek, but a good friend of mine is and “gave” me the name Nendil Rusco which is roughly “Fox by the Water” by his translation. As much as I appreciate the rarity of the name, it’s nice to see someone else with it.

          Sorry for the total tangent. Like I said, hope you don’t have to deal with that any more than you already have.

            LOL. Jen, everybody just wants to be you. Face it. U R Awesome. At least, your druid is (to 17 year old boys, no less!)

            =3 On that note, you should have totally gone and laid the smack down. Will hunt down Runy impersonators, stat!

                Yeah, I sent emails to that guild and tried tracking him down. Looks like he server transferred or got a new name. I was prepared to lambaste him on his own realm forums.

                @Bellwether
                I first read that as “I want to be on you”, which is a lot different.
